In many respect requiring the same performance levels as our systems installed for cancer research, imaging of stem cells is providing a real handle on the processes that cells go through when they make decisions about their final cell type. Scientists that are studying everything from cell differentiation using markers that provide information about cell lineage through to the processes that determine cell migration and cell fate. In some of these processes information acquired in 3-D, at a number of focal planes can be important.
